Mini R52 / R53 Cooper S Catback Exhaust 2.5″ Performance Sports Stainless Steel System
This exhaust system replaces everything from the cat back. It is made from 63mm tube which gives excellent flow and able to handle high horsepower applications if the supercharger has had it’s boost increased.
Fits the Mini R53 Cooper S and R52 Cooper S models only.
2021 Design Revision
New for 2021 we have redesigned this exhaust and the tailpipes now come welded together. No more struggling trying to align the tailpipes. As far as we are aware this is the only R53 Cooper S exhaust made this way and it really simplifies the installation.
This exhaust was designed to compliment our race exhaust, the race exhaust was designed to flow and give a loud exhaust sound but with this we have used chambered boxes so it is much quieter. Round town and on a motorway it is easy to live with however when you put your foot to the floor you will still get the sound of the supercharged engine under the bonnet.
It has twin 3 1/4″ tailpipes and comes with everything you see in the pictures.
Made by Malian Exhausts from high quality stainless steel and complete with a full fitting kit this exhaust is really easy to fit and will last for many years to come. All welds are done using TIG for ultimate quality and looks.
The early R53 pre-facelift had a slightly different hanger setup at the rear near the battery box and if you have one of these cars you might need to shorten the centre pipe slightly and bend the hangers to get everything to line up. As with all car modification a little fettling to get it to fit is often part of the fun.
Also worth noting is that the tailpipes are not designed to be symmetrical.
Once fitted the car will have more power and a sporty exhaust note.

Cant beat it for the money, Tig welded too! Bit fiddle to assemble the loop and the ‘Malian’ logo brackets are upsides down when fitted which is a shame because they are smart, but they under car I suppose so makes no difference. The hangars are supplied about an inch too long so need to be heated and bent to sit where you want it but thats so it can be fitted to both pre and post facelift cars I guess! This system is like night and day compared to the other ASBO loud Race system Malian do, this one sounds just right, needs a few tweeks when fitting but cant complain for the price! Think it sounds better the the resonated Miltek I have on my other R53 to be honest too! 👍

Fast delivery and so far an excellent exhaust for the price. It looks great and appears to be well made. It is louder than I expected with lots of pops and bangs, but does sound really nice with a deep sporty sound. You definitely get noticed!! 😊

Bought system for r53. Arrived the following morning. Fitted at mot station and took 40mins. Guys impressed with quality and how well it fitted. Sound great, not offensive or droney at motorway speed. Pops nicely on over run without bangs. Overall every pleased. Would be perfect if the clamps where stainless too. Definitely recommend!

Exhaust delivered quickly and well packaged. As others have said this is a quality made stainless exhaust system and even the fitters commented on how well made it is. Took them a couple of hours as they had to heat some of the hangers to fit, mine is a post facelift so not sure if that’s the reason. I wanted a reasonably loud exhaust but didn’t wanna go for the full race system, however I was worried this one wouldn’t be loud enough – but it’s absolutely spot-on – loud enough when you put your foot down but you can drive it quietly if needed (just about).

Bought and received very quickly and it was very professionally packaged for transit. A very good quality product and the price is great compared to anything else I could find. I had it fitted at a local garage who said it went on easily with only minor fidling about. He was very happy with the fit.
Then there’s the noise. Time and the expressions on the faces of nearby pedestrians will tell if it’s anti-social or not. There is a wonderful low burble at idle and low rev shifting through the gears in the car. Mid range there’s plenty of pops on overrun and on song it’s less bass and more rasp but still sounds very sporty. From the moment I picked up the car and all the way home I had a big, cheesey grin on my face. I couldn’t be happier with the service from Malian and from the exhaust itself. Thanks to all.

Ricevuto in tempi record, scarico in acciaio inox davvero fatto bene, saldature eccellenti a tig. Suono molto bello da corsa ma non troppo fastidioso e prestazioni migliorate. Se dovete montarla come nel mio caso su una Mini cooper R53s prima serie 120kw (163cv) bisogna adattare le staffe piegandole leggermente per allinearla essendo progettata per la versione successiva da 170cv, niente di grave si monta lo stesso. Che dire migliore di molti altri scarichi a un prezzo più ragionevole, molto soddisfatto.
Translated to – Received in record time, really well made stainless steel exhaust, excellent tig welds. Very nice racing sound but not too annoying and improved performance. If you have to mount it as in my case on a Mini cooper R53s first series 120kw (163hp) you have to adapt the brackets by bending them slightly to align it being designed for the later 170hp version, nothing serious mounts the same. What about better than many other exhausts at a more reasonable price, very satisfied.

I bought this for my partners R53 as her previous exhaust failed the MOT, took the opportunity to do an upgrade. This exhaust really is an upgrade. The construction is really spot it looks and feels really well made. The modular nature made fitting the exhaust really easy, I did it on a driveway using axle stands in just over an hour.
I have noticed a few comments about the fitting of he exhaust to a pre-facelift r53, which is what I was fitting it to. The rear hangers on the outside (not the ones beside the the battery tray) did not line up perfectly and probably could have done with banding slightly towards the rear but I found that with some upgraded exhaust rubber the exhaust fit the pre-facelift with no need to do this.
The exhaust sounds good, noisier than the stock exhaust but not in an obnoxious way and there are some nice small pops (not bangs just pops) when coming off the throttle after high revs.
Overall I am really happy with the purchase.
A quick final note, I did not get an email confirmation of the order but it was delivered within two working days.
