Mazda MX5 Mk1 1.6 or 1.8 Catback Performance 4″ Tail JDM Style Exhaust System
This exhaust system replaces everything from the cat back. It is made from 60mm tube which gives excellent flow and is able to handle high horsepower applications if the car is fitted with a supercharger or a turbo. Gives a better flow rate than the standard exhaust and therefore allows the car to produce more power.
It has a 4″ Japanese-style tailpipe and comes with everything you see in the pictures.
It now comes with a removable baffle in the tailpipe so you can choose to have a sportier exhaust note or a LOUD exhaust.
Here is a link to one of our customers cars with one of these exhausts fitted – https://youtu.be/hLzmwDAAorI
It weighs around 7.5kg
Made by Malian Exhausts from high quality stainless steel and complete with a full fitting kit this exhaust is really easy to fit and will last for many years to come. All welds are done using TIG for ultimate quality and looks.
All Mk1 MX5s – both with the 1.6 or the 1.8 engine, for the later MK1s (1997 and 1998) with the longer 470mm cat you will need to buy the adapter pipe.
Some MX5s have a brace on the rear subframe which will either need to be removed or adjusted to fit this exhaust. If you’re not sure send us a picture of the rear diff area of the car and we can advise before you purchase.

Zach – :
It dose fail the not test and sits low but overall a nice exhaust good style I would recommend welding a silencer to the exhaust system.

Thanks for your comment Zach. These are supplied with DB killers… without it, it will be noisy! : )

Fantastic sounding exhaust, Have yet to hear any bangs but it does have good sounding pops on deceleration! worth the money 🙂
Jon – :
Amazing exhaust I initially took out the baffle from the end pipe, the exhaust was SUPER LOUD ! too load.. so i put the baffle back in, after a couple of weeks the vroom sound has carlmed into a nice charming vroom sound that is tolerable not to much and not too little just rigth, really does make a nice tune especially on de-acceleration. not heard any pops or bangs but it’s close to it. Might try the decat see if that makes it pop or bang. good solid lightweight performance exhaust !

Other than the silencer being a pain to remove and the tiny adjustment that could be done to make it 1.8 compatible without cutting the brace, it’s pretty much perfect.

GREAT EXHAUST bought as my catalytic converter was stolen so went for a straight pipe, exhaust was easy to install and had no issues. Great build quality and fast shipping, I’ve kept the baffle in as I daily my car and it’s got a great tone to it, not too loud when you drive normally and nice and has a raspy tone when you drive it like you stole it.

Hands down the best exhaust for a miata! Sounds amazing, quick shipping, and very high quality. Yes, it pops between every shift and is loud, but if you’re considering buying this exhaust then you should be into both of these qualities! There is no annoying rasp, good throaty low end, nice and open up high, and only a slight drone. If you’re wondering exactly what it sounds like then think of a 350z with an exhaust. Absolutely blissful! Don’t risk your money on an ebay knockoff, I would pay much more than what Malian asks for it! Oh, it also shoots flames sometimes 🙂 I would give more than 5 stars if possible, it makes the driving experience SO much better!
