BMW 3-Series 320i/323i/325i/328i E36 3″ JDM, Engine Back w. Sports Cat Exhaust, 91-99
Important fitment information
Important: Fits the listed BMW E36 six-cylinder models with M50 or M52 engines, plus S50-engined E36 M3 models when installed as the complete engine-back system using the supplied MAL-174 manifold. Fits all body styles except Compact. Does not fit Z3. RHD steering clearance: Clearance between the MAL-174 manifold and steering shaft is very tight. Check engine-mount condition before fitting. A slimline/skinny steering shaft may be required if adequate clearance cannot be achieved; it is not required on every car. Check clearance throughout steering travel and engine movement. The steering shaft must never contact the exhaust.
Complete engine-back exhaust system with the supplied MAL-174 manifold, a 200-cell sports catalyst and JDM upswept rear silencer.
The manifold is fabricated from stainless steel and TIG welded throughout.

Design features
At the rear there is a JDM upswept rear silencer with a 4″ tailpipe. We recommend high temp RTV sealant to be used on all joints.
Fitment notes
Fits with the M3 rear bumper. The joints and supplied clamps are not designed to be assembled dry; use the specified sealant during installation.
These will pass an emissions test. It’s an engine back system and replaces the whole exhaust on the car. The manifold is an equal length race type manifold with the lambda bosses for the OEM lambda sensors. Then once under the floor the exhaust merges into a 3″ which then goes all the way to the back of the car. Iconic with Japanese cars the JDM upswept look also looks great on the E36. This exhaust features a 200 CPI sports cat. Failure to use the correct sealant can result in damage to the clamps, damage to the exhaust and a leaking system. Static Noise Test The static test was performed at a distance of 1m behind the centre of the car at 3500 RPM. The car was a 328i with a modified intake.

BMW E36: one chassis, many configurations
The E36 range includes four- and six-cylinder engines, several body styles and a wide variety of factory exhaust layouts. Selected Z3 products also use this chassis key, so the model and engine details shown above should always take priority over the profile heading.
Manifold clearance, steering position, catalyst arrangement and the connection to the centre section can all vary. Rear systems also differ by body style and bumper layout, so check every product-specific fitment note before installation.
